This was from a photograph that I took when my wife and I were on holidays at Phillip Island in Victoria. I had not long got a new camera and was trying to work it out. A female wren was accommodating enough to pose for me with a nice blue sky for background. That formed the basis for a painting titled “Dainty Lady). Not long after I had taken her picture she was replaced on her perch by a male. He struck an almost identical pose. I couldn’t resist painting him as well. During the breeding seasons the plumage of the male is quite stunning. I decided to call him “Knight in Shining Armour” and I like to think of his protecting his dainty lady.
