Description
Some years ago my wife and I visited the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo and did an overnight stay at the zoo. It was a wonderful experience. We got to get up close and personal with some of the animals behind the scenes. I actually had the opportunity to feed the black rhino. I was amazed at how gentle they are given their size. It’s so sad to think that they are in such danger in the wild.
Interesting rhino fact: They are subject to haemochromatosis (an iron overload syndrome) and need to be carefully managed in a captive environment.
