Some years ago now we lived in Portland in South West Victoria. One day our dogs were going crazy barking at something. When we went out to investigate we found this little fella on the back fence of our property – hence the title of the painting. He was obliging enough to pose for some photographs. Koalas are really interesting animals and are quintessentially Australian. We live about 45 minutes from Healesville Sanctuary and they have recently renovated the Koala area so that you are now at tree level looking at them. If you get the chance to go it’s well worth it..
